Chefchauen - blue town in Morocco

I wanted to share something with you, guys and gals. Usually I don't share my journalistic work here, on BL, as I write articles under my legal name, not the one I use here (my pen name for fiction), but this time the story seems too interesting. There is a town in Morocco called Chefchauen. Most of the town is painted in various shades of blue. You can see a few photographs below the text of this post. All the photos came from Google search.

A local Vancouver artist, Joyce Ozier, found out about this town by accident. Interested in its story - how did it become blue - Joyce started digging for information and simultaneously painting abstract compositions, as a visual documentary of her research.

I interviewed her about her solo show, which included her paintings and some write-ups on the stuff she discovered about Chefchauen. I'm not a fan of abstract paintings, so Joyce's art left me indifferent, but her story was fascinating. Here is a link to my article about Joyce Ozier
