Another 'Meh'

To Seduce a Sinner - Elizabeth Hoyt

I seem to hit a streak of mediocre books. Well, maybe not all of them are mediocre, but most of them don’t quite work for me, including this one. I know the author’s historical romances have many fans, but her writing didn’t excite me.

I didn’t like the protagonists – they were too intense, and their problems seemed artificial. I couldn’t care for them.

I didn’t like the level of sexual heat – too close to erotica for my taste.

I didn’t like the general atmosphere; it was darker than I want in my romances. It didn’t have the fluffiness I’ve come to expect from the genre.

The writing was good, but the overall impression was ‘Meh’. I’ll try another book by this writer and see if it’s only this one story, but I doubt I’ll be a fan.
